Intrepid young adventurer determined to complete the ‘Polar Hat Trick’
This April at just 14 years old, Jade Hameister became the youngest person to ski to the North Pole from anywhere outside the Last Degree.
Jade had climbed Mt Kosciuszko and completed her first triathlon season by age 6. By age 12, she had conquered the Mt Everest Base Camp Trek and was inspired by the courage of two women she befriended on that trip – one that was aiming to reach the summit and who had previously skied to the South Pole solo and the other who had been the first woman to summit Everest without oxygen. Jade is now determined to be the youngest person to complete the ‘Polar Hat Trick’, comprising the North Pole, Greenland Crossing and South Pole, all the way from the coast.
In addition to her love of the outdoors and adventure, the Year 9 Haileybury College student values her family, friends, fitness, sunsets and the beach as her inspiration. She believes having an adventurous mind means being prepared to challenge outdated thinking, taking risks and accepting failure as a possibility.
