Adam O’Donnell – August 24th event

Adam O'DonnellAdam O’Donnell’s passion for authentic leadership is either a legacy of his 15 years service in Special Forces or the reason behind it in the first place.  Maybe even a bit of both.

His career has been as varied as it’s been eventful – prior to joining the British Army’s 21st Special Air Service Regiment he had what looked, to the casual observer, to be a real job – his career included senior leadership roles with companies like NAB, IBM and Fujitsu.

With the SAS, he spent the next ten years leading teams on a variety of missions overseas, from peacekeeping in Bosnia to Mt Everest to combat operations in Afghanistan.  He then immigrated to Australia and found himself back in combat, this time leading Australian Special Forces teams in Afghanistan.

Apart from being shot at on behalf of Queen and both countries, thankfully with an appalling degree of accuracy, Adam has been slept on by a snoring yak, charged by a herd of very angry elephants and shared a trench with a large, and as yet unidentified, snake.  He’s gradually learning just how many of the worlds most dangerous creatures “still call Australia home”.

He now speaks and consults on leadership and team development – in particular on the topics of accountability, resilience and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
