Rosario De Marco – August 24th event
Rosario De Marco, guitarist – composer is renowned throughout Italy for his arrangements and performances of Neapolitan and popular music.
Rosario has performed live as well as for national TV and radio. He has released a number of CDs, including “Light and Shadows” and “Roots”. His music captures the warmth and passion of the Southern European lands, taking elements from flamenco, jazz, classical, folk and popular music. With this mixture of different musical inspirations he creates his own personal and highly melodious style…
In composing and performing his music, Rosario’s ambitious and passionate desire to broaden and to extend his musical inspiration brought him to the idea of the United World Music project. The U.W.M. project combines Mediterranean sounds with other musical styles and utilises different instruments (guitar, drums, bass, percussions, saxophone, voice…), producing highly exotic harmonies and passionate melodies…
With countless performances around Victoria, Rosario’s reputation as a unique and vibrant guitarist has grown swiftly in the local music scene. Successful performances include as support act for Omara Portuendo (Buena Vista Social Club), and Ladysmith Black Mambazo at the Melbourne Concert Hall, Harvest Picnic at Hanging Rock, the Frankston Guitar Festival (2000 & 2001), the Boite Winter Music festivals (2000, 2001 & 2002), and solo performances at the Victorian Arts Centre Esso Music in the Foyer series.
The rapid growth in popularity of Rosario’s group was seen at the performance in the Global Sounds at Sunset Series at the Melbourne Museum, where he received a standing ovation for his splendid performance. He can also be heard regularly on radio stations such as SBS, 3AK, ABC and 3MBS.
Rosario’s CD “Light and Shadows” was released on the Australian market in 2000, and his latest CD “Intuition” has been released nationally on the Move label.
